Claver House Community

an intentional faith community founded in Ignatian spirituality

“Seek God in all things, and we shall find God by our side.” - St. Peter Claver, SJ

What is Claver House?

Founded in the fall of 1999, Claver House is a residential, intentional interfaith community rooted in Ignatian spirituality. The house is located in the Ville neighborhood of North St. Louis, near St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church.

As a program to promote faith-based community, social justice, and simplicity of life, Claver House Community provides members the opportunity to develop their faith life by learning about and practicing Ignatian spirituality. Members participate in weekly community-building and reflection activities.

Claver House Community offers its members…

  • The opportunity to live in a community with individuals who share the desire to engage the community at a deeper level.

  • The time for spiritual formation and an opportunity to serve the larger community that they encounter in the Ville neighborhood.

  • The time to share their experiences and their lives with one another.

Who may apply?

Claver House is open to and welcomes persons of all faiths and religious backgrounds who are interested in living with others in the community and working service with their neighbors and have a desire to more actively engage in their faith/spirituality. The minimum commitment to the program is one academic year, beginning in August. Residents must be at least 20 years old.

The Claver House Community invites members to be active neighbors and consider their roles in the greater community as individual interest, ability, and availability allow. The Claver House Community is also encouraged to identify and implement a communal project as a way to be involved in the neighborhood. Many opportunities exist.

Let your faith and spirit be your guide.
